Background and Purpose: Proper nutrition and breakfast consumption play an important role in meeting the nutritional needs of students. This study was designed and implemented with the aim of determining dietary patterns (such as breakfast and snacks) among high school students in Ramsar city.
Methods: In this descriptive study, 202 female and male students of the second year of secondary school from all public schools were selected by systematic random sampling. Data were collected by a questionnaire on demographic characteristics, breakfast and snack consumption habits and monthly consumption frequency taken from HFFQ (Harvard’s Food Frequency Questionnaire). The data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistics (Chi-square, Pearson and Kruskal-Wallis). Results: According to the results, 95% of the sample had the habit of eating breakfast at home and 98% of them had the habit of eating snacks at home and school. Also, during the past month: 14.6% of dairy products, 15.35% of meat (meat, chicken and fish), 7.42% of eggs, 5.45% of vegetables and 39.6% of fruits had always consumed (at least 2 times a day).
Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that emphasis should be placed on integrating nutrition education into school curricula, supported by robust evaluations, and increasing awareness about modifying dietary behaviors.
