Introduction:Researching is one of the fundamental demands for any country in order to achieve progress. Strength and independency of each country is based on their research and produced science. Evaluation of factors affecting student tendency to do research projects is the aim of this study. Material and methods::The population of this cross sectional study was all Sabzevar University of medical science’s students except medical and master of nursing students. Random sampling was used in this descriptive study. Study participants had filled the questionnaire and results were analyzed by SPSS 11.5 software and Chi-square test was performed. Results :From total of 359 participants, 245 (68.1%) students were male and 114 (31.9%) were female. 39.7% of our study population believed that students are highly familiar with research methods; 39.7% believed that there is high accessibility to research consultant for university students. 33.2% of students mentioned that there is high rate of motivating advertisements and festivals for research in the university and 29.8% believed that the professors are highly familiar with research methods. 5.7% of students had high tendency to research.
Conclusion:According to our results some factors such as familiarity with research methods, presence of research consultants, having membership in scientific associations and participating in research methodology workshops and … had great effect on student tendency to research and can be mentioned as positive motivating factors. Despite of these positive factors, gender, marital status and education level didn’t have any significant relation with student’s tendency to research. So, paying more attention to these factors and trying to convert them into positive factors seems necessary.
