Introduction:The aim of this research was to compare the effectiveness of progressive relaxation and periodic visual stimulation on depth of relaxation.
Methods& materials: This experimental study was conducted on 40 students of managemet faculty of allameh tabatabaee university. Method of sampling was Random cluster sampling. Sample group was 2 classes of freshmen students of management faculty of allameh tabatabaee university whom were randomly selected from 4 classes of freshmen students. Subjects of the first group(first class) received a 20 minutes progressive relaxation and subjects of second group (second class) received a 20 minutes periodic visual stimulation. Before and after intervention, blood pressure and heart rate of subjects of both groups were taken.Data was analysed by covariance analysis with SPSS v15 sotfware.
Results:Results showed that there were no difference between depth of relaxation (blood pressure and heart rate) of two groups.
Conclusion: According to results of this research, we can use periodic visual stimulation instead of depth of relaxation.
