Evaluation the associated factors with abortion and stillbirth in pregnant women referring to Ali-ebne Abitaleb Hospital in Zahedan, Iran.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Most pregnancies lead to healthy childbirth. Sometimes during pregnancy, some accident occured that can lead to the loss of pregnancy. The loss of the fetus before the 20th week of pregnancy is abortion and then called still birth. The aim of this study was to investigate the associated factors with abortion and stillbirth in pregnant women.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was performed on 200 cases of abortion and stillbirths in Ali-ebne Abitaleb Hospital during 2015-2017. After data collection, data analysis was performed using SPSS software 16 version. In describing the characteristics of data, frequency distribution tables, graphs and statistical indicators of mean and standard deviation are used. Findings: Out of 200 cases, 55% were abortions and 45% were stillbirths. The most common causes for refer in women with abortion was vaginal bleeding and in females with still birth was decreased fetal movement.The most common maternal problems in women with abortion were previous history of surgical and hypertension and in women with stillbirth, previous history of surgery and thyroid disorders.
The most common fetal and placental problems in females with abortion were oligohydramniosis and fetus abnormality and in women with still birth was oligohydramniosis and hydrops fetalis.Conclusion: According to the results of the study, it is expected that health authorities identify high risk persons for abortion and stillbirths, and provide necessary education and counseling in order to reduce the incidence of abortion and stillbirth.
