Material and Methods: The present research is a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest with control group design. The study population included all the couples who had visited the Hamyaran Salamat Ravan center in Bojnourd city in the first half of 2017. Using available sampling method, 20 couples who had gained the lowest scores in Marital Adjustment Questionnaire and were qualified for participating in the research were selected and, then, they were assigned into two groups of experiment and control by using random assignment method. Afterwards, the experiment group received the intervention (couple communication program), but the control group received no intervention. After finishing the training sessions, a posttest was taken by both groups. Also, both groups participated in a follow-up session after about 6 weeks. The data were analyzed through Analysis of variance with repeated measures by SPSS18 software.
Results: The results of repeated measures for comparing three phases for both groups showed that couple communication program has been effective in enhancing marital adjustment of couples and the results have been still significantly consistent in the follow-up stage (F= 5.89, p < 0.01).
Conclusion: Results indicated the effectiveness of couple communication program on enhancing marital adjustment.
