Abstract

Introduction:Searching for health information is one of the three most common activities performed on the Internet. Pregnancy is accompanied by various changes and concerns, and when pregnant women do not receive sufficient information, they tend to turn to information technologies such as the Internet, applications, and social networks. This study aimed to Determining methods of obtaining health information during pregnancy among pregnant mothers in Bojnourd city
Methods:This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 243 pregnant mothers in Bojnord.Quota sampling was used to select participants from all health centers in the city.Data collection instruments included a demographic questionnaire and the standardized"Online Health Information Seeking among Pregnant Women" questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 23 with descriptive statistics,Pearson correlation, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA.
Results: The most common source of information for mothers was physicians and midwives(43%),followed by the Internet(37%)and friends and family(20%)The mean scores for virtual space usage in the domains of "perceived ease of use" (3.38) and "intensity of use" (3.05) were at a desirable level. However, the mean scores for information seeking related to"infant care"(2.95),"delivery"(2.89), "pregnancy"(2.48),and "postpartum" (2.13) were below the desirable threshold.
Conclusion: The results showed that online health information seeking among the studied mothers was below average. Although physicians and midwives remain the primary sources of information, the Internet also plays an important role. Considering the role of online resources in reducing anxiety, introducing reliable websites to mothers can help them use this tool more effectively.
