Abstract
Introduction and Objective: Working nurses face more problems compared to other women due to having multiple duties including motherhood, wifehood, work, and lack of necessary support. This study aims to investigate the lived experiences of childbearing of nurses at Birjand University of Medical Sciences. Method: The present qualitative research uses an interpretive phenomenology approach and purposive sampling to explain the lived experiences of childbearing of nurses at Birjand University of Medical Sciences. Results: The themes obtained included economic problems, which included two subgroups of price inflation and low wages, and the difficulty of work, including medical work and high-risk sectors, and work-family conflict, including the subcategories of deprived comfort, feeling of inadequacy, and child isolation. Conclusion: They face work and family challenges in the field of childbearing, which has limited their desire to have children compared to working women. Therefore, the Ministry of Health, which is the custodian of parenting, should pay special attention to nurses and their problems in becoming parents.
