Abstract
Mechanical eye injuries are very common in industrial settings, and every year a large number of workers are affected by these injuries, which can lead to blindness. Clinical findings suggest that workers in metalworking activities, such as mechanical hammering and welding, are more at risk, especially if they do not use personal protective equipment (PPE). Arc welding light, which contains ultraviolet rays (UVR), can damage the eyes, and many workers are exposed to these rays on the job. Topical anesthetic drops are widely used to relieve eye pain, but their misuse can lead to corneal damage. lead to Self-medication with drugs such as tetracaine can cause severe problems. Early symptoms include epithelial defects and eye inflammation. Timely medical attention is critical, while self-medication may lead to permanent injuries. To reduce these risks, employers should take the use of PPE seriously and strengthen training and supervision in the workplace. Injured workers should see an ophthalmologist immediately, and pharmacists should inform patients of side effects and the need for an eye exam. It is very important to prevent severe injuries and vision disorders.
