Evaluation of students’ satisfaction from the Education Department of Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences in the second semester of 2007-2008

Abstract

Introduction: Nowadays much attention is paid to the satisfaction of recipients of services.
The only effective method for guaranteeing the survival of organizations, reducing their
disadvantages, increasing their capabilities, and enhancing their qualitative and quantitative
improvements is to maintain customer satisfaction. Students are the major constituents of a
university and their points of view are considered as the key element in the success of the
institution. The aim of this study is to evaluate students’ satisfaction from the Education
Department of Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences.
Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, students in the second semester of
2007-2008 were recruited for evaluation. A questionnaire consisting of demographic data and
a Likert-scale evaluation checklist of the various sectors of the Education Department was
filled for the subjects. The results were then analyzed using the chi-squared and Fisher exact
tests using the SPSS software.
Results: Six hundred completed questionnaires were analyzed. Students at the associate
degree level reported higher satisfaction than bachelors students (p=0.007). The highest
satisfaction was observed among students of medical emergencies. In general, satisfaction
level of junior students was higher than seniors (p=0.001).
