Introduction: Psychological well-being of students is a goal for educational system which is take influence from different factors. The aim of present study is the evaluation of the relation between parenting and attachment styles with psychological well-being among female students.
Methods& materials: Between 2014 and 2015, all female students of Payam Noor university of Talesh participated in this descriptive analytic study. Three hundred and fifty students were chosen by cluster sampling. Parker parental bonding scale, Collins and Read attachment and questionnaires which had acceptable reliability and validity were used. Data was collected and analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis using SPSS software (18th version).
Results: Psychological well-being was significantly related father’s care (r=0.288), mother’s care (r=0.282), father’s radical support (r=0.173), mother’s radical support (r=0.167), secure attachment style (r=0.195), preventive attachment style (r=0.328) and anxious attachment style (r=0.167). Regression analysis showed that preventive attachment style, father’s supportive style and secure attachment style were significantly determined 0.22 of psychological well-being variance.
Conclusion: The results of this study confirm the important role of parenting factors and attachments in predicting psychological well-being of students.
