Introduction: Invasive procedures such as angiography will cause stress and anxiety for patients. Anxiety will affect the patients and their physiological reactions in angiography room. Evaluation of state and trait anxiety and some of physiological values in patients undergoing coronary angiography is the aim of present study.
Methods& materials: Sixty two patients who were admitted in angiography unit of Vasei Hospital enrolled this descriptive study. Patient’s data was gathered by 3 questionnaires, including: (1) demographic; (2) Eshpil Berger standard questionnaire; (3) physiological value’s check list.
Results: The mean age of participants was 9/8 ± 064/57 and most of them were male (37 participants 59/67%). Mean of state and trait anxiety 21/6±25/53 were and 43/6±87/49 respectively. The mean of physiological values were elevated a hour prior to angiography than the angiography day. However this level was not significant.
Conclusion: Higher anxiety rates in these patients demonstrate the need of stress reduction for patients. By determining anxiety factors, physicians and nurses should perform appropriate intervention in order to reduce this tension.
