Introduction: Vaccination is the most effective and the cheapest wayin preventing contaigous diseases. Assessing mothers' awareness of under five years children regarding immunization referred to Health care centers ofKhaf city, Khorasan Razavi.
Materials and method: The questionnaire of this descriptive study was consisted of two parts: demographic information (12 questions) and questions related to awareness (15 questions). The study population included 250 mothers of under seven years children, living in Khaf city.study samples were gathered by simple sampling method.The Experts of Khaf health care center had tested the reliability of the questionnaire by Cronbach's Alpha (α=0.86), before conduction of the study. Descriptive statistics was used in this study, by use of SPSS 18 software. Results: The study population was grouped in 4 groups of 15-19, 20-29, 30-39 and over 40 years according to their ages. The frequencies of these were 11.2, 62.4, 23.6 and 2.8 percent respectively. Among the population 2.44% had low awareness (15-23) while 72.4% and 25.2% had moderate (24-31) and good (32-39) awareness respectively. Among mothers who had good economic condition 5.52% had poor, 67.62% had intermediate and 26.22% had high awareness.
Conclusion: As most mothers had moderate awareness about vaccination complication, careful planning for educating mothers and raising their awareness seems necessary. Performing further studies in order to evaluate mother’s awareness after educating them is also necessary
