Introduction: Although most people are aware ofthe health risks related to smoking through articles, books and media that widely discussed and informed about it, but it seems that a small number of individualsare aware ofthe hazards of smoking for the environment.
Materials and methods: In this paper environmental impact from production to disposal of cigarette residue has been investigated. In order to collect data books, articles, scientific sites,as well as news bulletins has been used. Effects of cigarettes by topics including growing tobacco and smoking, effects of used pesticides in tobacco growing, tobacco and deforestation, residue produced by cigarette making factories, cigarette butts, cigarette butts management and its role in fire incidences and global warming has been investigated.

Cigarette manufactories produce wastes in liquid, solid and air borne forms that discharge them into the environment. Cigarette butts shoul be considered as a specific and toxic waste. Conclusions: Cigarette has impacts on human health and the environment at all phases of production, preparation and consumption. Therefore, public education can have constructive and useful effects in its impacts reduction.
