Introduction: many factors can affect premature or delayed labor. One of these factors, as suggested by gynecologist and obstetrics, is pregnancy supplements. As premature and delayed labor can be harmful for infants and his family, we have to identify such factors and reduce them as much as possible. The goal of this study is the evaluation of mother’s gestational age that uses pregnancy supplementsand those who don’t.
Material and methods: study population was mothers who gave birth in 2011 and referred to Sabzevar health care centers for cares. 158 and 46 mothers used and didn’t use supplements respectively. Data were collected by checklists and mothers medical documents available in medical health care centers. Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal - Wallis test and chi square test with a confedence interval of 95% were used and data was analysed by SPSS softwere.
Findings: from total of 204 women, 7.5% used supplements while 22.5% didn’t use any. Mean and standard deviation of gestational age in supplement users was 07/18±37/272 while other group was 6/17±93/273. This finding was not significant.
There was not any significant finding in demographic data, BMI, past deliveries, birth age of infant, delivery type and past miscarriages. Hemoglobin rates in 26-30 week of pregnancy were significantly higher in supplement user group.
